Merino

The Merino is the most numerous established breed in the world. The wool is the finest of all breeds, has a very soft handle. A Merino fleece has about 50.000.000 fibres compared to about 15.000.000 in a Romney fleece. The yield of clean wool from a Merino is low compared to that of other breeds because of it's high grease content, as much as 25-45 % of the total fleece weight.
