Blue Faced Leicester

Sometimes known as the Hexam Leicester. Emerged in Britain about the turn of the century. The fleece is relatively fine for a longwool and semilustrous. The staples form long, narrow, curly locks. It is also soft and silky.

Border Leicester

Large, noble-looking sheep with clean heads and Roman noses. They have distinctive erect ears. The fleece is long, lustrous and curly with clearly difened staples. These can be round or flat and they frequently have corkscrew tips.

Devon and Cornwall Longwool

This breed produce some of the heaviest fleeces of the British breeds. The lustrous fleece is very coarse and falls into large, open, curly locks.

Leicester Longwool

This breed has contributed much to improving many other longwools. The fleece is long, heavy, lustrous and of consistent length and fibre diameter. The staples are deeply waved and very flat with pointed tips.

Wensleydale

Thes are large-bodied sheep with distinctive blue gray faces. They have curly forelocks. The fleece is one of the finest of the lustre longwools and falls from the body in a mass of small, loosely curling ringlets. The staple is long, tapered, silky and very lustrous.
